The Rav4 I've been driving around for the past 2 years, and that has been in the family for several years prior to that, finally got close to that magical 100k millage mark. I was down in Houston at the time of the 99 thousands and was driving quite a bit. I was really looking forward to it too. I had been with Micah when his company car hit 100,000. My brother Mark had recently taken his car to 100,000. So I was ready and anxious. It would be my first car to bring to 100,000!
It looked as if I might hit 100k upon arrival or on the trip to Dallas. That ended up not happening. It came close, but no cigar. The Rav4 sat in the parking lot next to my dorm for days. I had no reason to be driving it around, all of my classes were within walking distance and I had everything else I needed right there. I might drive around a few times to the mall or something just for kicks, but, it was virtually stationary for those days.
After a few days of going nowhere, I suddenly needed to go to HEB. Now, the closest HEB that I could find on my phone was in east Dallas about 40 min. away. I drove all the way down there to find out there was no HEB. Not even a hint of where it was, the HEB just did not exist. Disappointed and aggravated, I started my trek back to campus. About 5 minutes into my trip back to the dorm, I looked down at the odometer to see 100068 I was livid. Not only had I missed it, but, I had JUST missed it. I know that those 9s ticked over, and that the new digit appeared either on this trip or maybe while the car had been rotting in the parking lot.
This is not even my car either. My car is in the shop and has already surpassed the 100,000 mark. So I can't even do that with my first car.
*sigh*
